Below is the detailed Itinerary for South of Spain and Portugal

Lisbon Coast

Monday-
2nd October

LISBON AIRPORT/ LISBON       

Arrival at Lisbon airport. Transfer to hotel. In the evening you are invited to our dinner in hotel.

Tuesday - 
3rd October

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

We will discover LISBON, one of the oldest cities in Europe and once the  westernmost cities in the known world. Highlights will include the riverside suburb of Belém, Hieronymus Monastery, Belém Tower, built between 1515 and 1519. We will also see  the Discoveries Monument which represents a three-sailed ship ready to depart with sculptures of important historical figures and several other notable Portuguese explorers, crusaders, monks, cartographers, and cosmographers.  Coffee break with a tasting of the pastry specialty: “Pastel de Belém”, a sweet delicacy you simply must try.

​

A brief stop at the Mercado da Ribeira (also known as  Mercado 24 de Julho) is Lisbon's main food market since 1892, also a fantastic place to eat. 

​

Free time for lunch.

 

In the afternoon you will discover a typical district of Lisbon - Alfama (the oldest district of the capital) - with its steep hills and narrow streets, medieval alleys and whitewashed houses with tile panels and wrought-iron balconies adorned with pots of flowers.  We will visit the Cathedral of Lisbon and from there you will have a magnificent panoramic view of Lisbon. Finally, we will go in the downtown area and center of business: Rossio and the Praça do Comércio. Return to hotel and then the rest of the day is at your leisure.

 

Dinner is on your terms this evening***.

In the evening we meet for our dinner in local restaurant, featuring traditional Portuguese dishes as well  as the expressive and melancholic music of Fado, the song of the Portuguese Soul declared by UNESCO as a World's Intangible Cultural Heritage. Late evening return to the hotel or stay out to enjoy your last evening in Lisbon!

Wednesday - 
4th October

Breakfast and Check out.

 

Drive to TOMAR where we will discover Convent do Cristo, one of the greatest historical attractions of Portugal. Founded in 1160 as the seat of the Knights Templar.  

 

Free time for lunch.

 

Continue to FATIMA. Visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima: Basilica, Chapel  of the Apparitions, Basilica of the Holy Trinity.

​

21h30 Possibility to participate in evening prayer in “Capelinha” (Chapel of the Apparitions) and candle procession.

​

Check in at the hotel. Dinner.

Thursday -
5th October

Breakfast. Check out.

 

Transfer to PORTO "INVICTA", a city famous for its wine. Porto is a port city, a  trading city, welcoming and active. This facet is recognized by the Portuguese who dedicated one of their popular sayings to him: “While Porto works, Coimbra studies and Lisbon has fun”. It is this charming city with friendly inhabitants that we invite you to discover throughout this day.  At the beginning we invite you for a mini cruise along Douro River

Free time for lunch at the Ribeira waterfront, the most typical and picturesque place in Porto.

 

It is  inscribed on the UNESCO World. Visit the Porto Cathedral (Sé do Porto), in the historical centre of the  city it is one of the city's oldest monuments and one of the most important Romanesque monuments in Portugal. Very close by is one of the world's most beautiful train stations, the São Bento Station, which 

has a beautiful entrance hall covered with twenty thousand pictorial tiles (azulejos) which depict the history of Portugal.

Friday - 
6th October

Breakfast at the hotel.

 

We will drive to BRAGA, called the Rome of Portugal. With more than 2000 years of history, Braga is the oldest Portuguese city and one of the oldest Christian cities in the world. We will discover one of the most remarkable monuments of Portuguese architecture: the Church of Bom Jesus and its monumental staircase (577 steps). We will reach the Bom Jesus by the first funicular of the Iberian Peninsula, built in 1882. This lift utilizes the water balance system, being one of only seven existing in Portugal and the oldest in the world.

 

Free time to enjoy the Natural Park of Bom Jesus which consists of caves, bandstands, gardens, statues, fountains, bridges, chapels, a lake, and a picnic park, among others. A short walk through historical city with visit of Braga's cathedral.  

​

Free time for lunch.

 

In the afternoon we will continue our journey in the direction of GUIMARÃES, a charming city full of history. Guimarães is considered the birthplace of Portugal because Afonso Henriques, who would become the first king of Portugal, was born here. Free time for a walk and shopping at the historical city center.

 

Return to hotel.

Saturday - 
7th October

Breakfast. Check out.

 

Drive to COIMBRA, the ancient capital of Portugal. The city is dominated by the Old University, which was founded in 1290, is one of the oldest universities in the Europe. Short walk through the streets of Coimbra. Visit the Cathedral Sé Velha.  

​

Lunch in Coimbra. 

​

In the afternoon we will continue towards CABO DA ROCA which is the westernmost point of Continental Europe.  It used to be a symbol of hope for those who once sailed away in search of new  worlds. Roca Cape integrates the Sintra Cascais Natural Park. It is also named as “Roca mug” or, more poetically, as Promontory of the Moon by the locals. Panoramic tour of “Sunny Riviera Coast" famous of its beaches (CASCAIS & ESTORIL). We will stop at the cosmopolitan and colorful Bay of Cascais, a  traditional fishing village and also a lively resort with delightful ice cream shops, stores  and restaurants.

Sunday - 
8th October

Liturgy in Lisbon. Breakfast.

​

Today we will cross the world’s largest cork region for an exciting journey into the past. Arrival to EVORA, the capital of Alentejo, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO  since 1986. The streets and buildings virtually unchanged over the centuries. You will see the Temple of Diana, the Cathedral (exterior visit). Stop for a walk at “Giraldo Plaza” and visit the São Francisco Church and the Bones Chapel.  

 

Free time for lunch.

 

Continue to MERIDA, was once the largest Roman town in Iberia. City tour.

 

Arrival to Sevilla and Dinner.

Breakfast in the hotel. 

 

Enjoy a full day tour of SEVILLA, a gorgeous city, the capital of Andalusia, and the site of Cathedral of Saint Mary, the largest cathedral in Spain and the third largest in Christendom.  Later enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city that is known for its romance and beauty. Your tour will include many sites of interest such as the Barrio de Santa Cruz (one of the most colorful areas of the city) and the Giralda Tower (exterior visit). Visit to Alcázar (Royal Palace) of Seville which is one of the city’s most enchanting, and most popular, historic monuments, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tuesday-

We will drive to CÁDIZ, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, with archaeological remains dating to the 8th century BC, and was founded by the Phoenicians. It has been a principal home port of the Spanish Navy since the accession of the Spanish Bourbons in the 18th century. City tour

 

Continue to TARIFA, the southernmost end of the Peninsula.  Open to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, this cozy old town was unknown for a couple of decades,  but with the rise of kitesurfing, this has finally changed. Today, it is an international surf mecca with cafés, trendy (tapas) restaurants and a lively atmosphere. It is a unique combination of Andalusia and Morocco.

Wednesday-
11th october

Breakfast and Check out.

 

Drive to MALAGA, picturesquely situated in a bay surrounded by mountains and bounded by the rivers Guadalmedina and Guadalhorce. Malaga city with its two thousand-eight hundred years of history is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Walking by the old town is a experience you should not miss. Visit the Cathedral, Roman Theater to learn about its history. Optional visit of Malaga´s Alcazaba (not included).

Free time for lunch.

Continue to magical seaside resort of NERJA, home to everything from stunning beaches to the surreal cave networks.

 

Arrival to hotel and Dinner in local restaurant (walking distance, transfers not included). Overnight.

Thursday- 
12th October

Breakfast.

 

Today we invite you for a half day local guided Tour of GRANADA including los Jardines del Generalife the summer resort created for the recreation of the sultans with its gardens, water-basins and fountains,  Alhambra one of the most famous works of Arab-Andalusian architecture. 

​

Free time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon free. Return to hotel.  

​

Farewell Dinner. 

 

CASA DE LA TRINIDAD

Friday-
13th October

Breakfast and Check-out.

 

Transfer to CORDOBA, which is the thousand-year-old city, the World Heritage designation and a living legacy of the different cultures that settled here throughout its history. Guided tour of Jewish Quarter and Mosque- Cathedral of Cordoba. Optional visit of Alcazar de Reyes Cristianos (not included). A stroll through the old quarter will allow you to discover a beautiful network of alleyways, squares and white-washed courtyards surrounding the Great Mosque-Cathedral, which reflects the importance of the city in the Middle Ages.

Free time for lunch.
